Peter is a seasoned dementia coach trained as a Certified Alzheimer/Dementia Coach graduating in the first class of coaches in 2012. Since that time he has coached individuals and strongly believes in supporting “Care Warriors” (family caregivers) with coaching. He has seen firsthand the difference between a caregiver who struggles in isolation and one who receives coaching. Peter often is called to mediate among family members as he believes it is important to hold family meetings and be transparent with the course of action ahead for the primary caregiver. Dementia is a new phase in the life of so many families, but most of all in the life of the person living with dementia or Alzheimer. He believes it is important to discuss and understand individual needs and family dynamics. Such a plan is the result of open discussion and solid planning from answering the question “What if…?”
Peter offers resources when needed. He understands the stages of dementia and will advocate for you and your family. For the professional “Care Warriors” (professional caregivers) Peter offers will add to their understanding of how to communicate better, lower their stress level, and improve on their delivery of dementia services in a seamless fashion. He believes one of the keys is to look for triggers to behaviors by becoming your own “detective” and learn to “improvise”. Because dementia knows no borders Peters works across borders and time zones using the phone, conference calling, email and Skype.
